The resort is used by many for quiet and relaxation but we used it as a place to stay while touring the surrounding area. From the location it is a short distance to Rome and Florence however getting in and out of the resort is slow driving on the winding road. It is very narrow and so winding you cannot see oncoming cars approaching so getting in and out of the resort takes much time. Our living area was one thin wall away from that of the next unit. Due to the bare stone floor, every sound traveled between the units. Although we tried to be quiet, we were a family with 3 children and the other residents were elderly. When we took early showers to go out for a day of sightseeing a resident beat on the walls and yelled for us to stop. The weather at the end of May was beautiful, not cold but not too hot. The pool didn't open until June. The other amenities (horses, tennis, spa) were so far away down unpaved roads that we didn't even explore them. The units are in little outbuildings all over the large property which was very nice but was also inconvenient. We needed to drive to get to the reception building it was so far away over the unpaved roads. The area is lovely. The little town of Fabro was charming and the hill town of Fabro was even more so. There is a train station in Fabro where you can catch the slower regional train and it is not far to Orvieto where you can catch a faster train with less stops. The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and friendly. The 5 course dinners were amazing but I'm glad we did not do half board because we were able to eat breakfast in our unit and eat dinner in many other places. We travelled to Rome, Florence, the ruins of Pompeii and the hill towns from this location.
